" ... She abandons herself to the shades of the marble colour, the veins of stone, whose disorder contrasts the order of the wires that sew again ... "

Biography

Research

She is attracted from stone due to its signs, veins, colour variations, the alternation of smooth, rough and crystal surfaces. All what breaks down, while retaining the signs of breakage, of fragmentation, can take a new shape, a new life. Sometimes she alternates  woven fractured and reassembled stones, with marble sculptures that are more plastic and  without wounds, almost she wanted to raise the divine world in an eternal space, away from the fractures of the earthly world. And many other works, called Textures of Light, are obtained from the chipped marble, where the stitching with iron wire is replaced by signs of light, transparent etched grooves that come to life thanks to the shadow they cast.

Data
Brescia (Italy), June 22, 1969
She lives and works in Rovato (Brescia - Italy)

Education
She began her artistic career in the late nineties. She obtained a degree at  the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in 2003, where she learned the painting, sculpture and  engraving techniques with Professors Giuseppe Maraniello, Davide Boriani, Paolo Minoli, Massimo Pellegrinetti and Luce Delhove.
She was immediately attracted by  materials, plastic shapes and chooses the sculpture, with  expressive references, referring to both the conceptual and informal abstract.
She chooses immediately the  non-figurative style, that she keeps both in the engraving and sculpture.
She subsequently improved engraving techniques at the studio of Luigi Corsini and sculpture at the Vantini School in Rezzato (Italy).
She also studied foreign languages at the Catholic University of Brescia and collaborates on music and art projects with the musician Rosolino Di Salvo.

Concept

The beginnings of her career took place in the 90s, before undertaking her academic studies with her first chalcographic etched  engravings. From the engraving with acid  she felt the need of the direct sign on metal and the use of a hand-made paper that, when printed, would create a relief, a sort of two dimensional sculpture. It probably is the contrast between direct sign and roughness of the paper, in black and white, to facilitate the transition to sculpture forms. Her research is in the processing of blocks of stone. Making an operation of deconstruction-reconstruction: she breaks them to reassemble them later; giving a new shape to the material, bringing the pieces back together, sewing the stones with a wire that holds the fragments. Weaving the stones is a feminine gesture concerning the substance and not a feminine gesture for the support: a contrast. Stone is hard, resistant, rigid; and the wire is made of copper, brass and steel. Sewing becomes a gesture opposed to the one of the starting: on one hand the direct gesture, the energy that is released and becomes a break; on the other hand, the slow, slight movement of an  embroidery.
